Implant Dentures — New York City, NY

The Most Advanced Dentures Yet

Implant dentures are easily the most advanced dentures to-date. While the traditional version of this restoration simply rests on top of your gums, implant dentures are able to rely on your jawbone for support. This makes them far less prone to slippage, increases your chewing power, and helps your restoration last much longer. Interested? You’re not the only one! What Are Implant Dentures?

WHAT ARE IMP DENTURES

Basically, implant dentures combine a traditional denture setup with dental implants. Your implant dentist in New York City will first surgically anchor four to six implant posts to your jawbone, then attach a small connector piece to each post. After the titanium posts fuse with your jawbone, your implant dentist will fix a customized denture to the connector pieces, and viola – you’ll have a beautiful implant denture.

Technically, there are two different ways we can fix your denture to your implants. Below, you’ll find a brief overview of each option.

Fixed Implant Dentures

As the name suggests, a fixed implant denture is designed to stay in your mouth 24/7. This restoration often requires more implant posts and might not be suitable for patients with jawbone loss, but they can be highly convenient and comfortable.

Removable Implant Dentures

While you won’t be able to remove the actual implant posts, your restoration will be configured so that you can take out the denture. Removable implant dentures don’t require many implants, and plenty of patients like being able to give their false teeth a thorough cleaning.

The Implant Denture Process

The implant denture process has four main steps:

  1. We’ll take the time to make sure we’re on the same page about your treatment goals and preferences.
  2. Implant surgery. Your implant dentist will fix your implants to your jawbone.
  3. It typically takes three to six months for the implants to properly fuse with the jawbone.
  4. Receiving your complete restoration and renewing your smile!

Am I a Candidate for Implant Dentures?

Most patients with good oral health and sufficient jawbone mass are good candidates for implant dentures. That said, even if you don’t qualify for treatment right away, we might be able to help with preliminary procedures like a bone graft and gum disease therapy.
